Edu.Action: Volunteer Opportunities

Our Mission

Shaping stronger futures, one relationship at a time

At EduAction, we believe real change starts with the adults around a child. That’s why we work hand-in-hand with schools, care teams, and youth services to create emotionally intelligent environments through training, support, and therapeutic insight.

Our mission is simple:   To help professionals feel more confident, connected, and equipped to support the children and young people they work with, especially those facing emotional, behavioural, or relational challenges in the UK and India

Whether you're an educator, keyworker, team leader, or practitioner, you're in the right place.

Let’s build safer, more nurturing systems together.

How We Work

Relational. Reflective. Rooted in real-world impact

At EduAction, we believe meaningful change in the lives of children and young people begins with how the adults around them are supported and developed. That’s why our work extends beyond traditional training or volunteering; we focus on embedding emotionally intelligent practice into everyday culture, so it becomes lived, not just learned.

We don’t deliver “tick-box” training. Instead, we prioritise depth, dialogue, and practical tools that translate into meaningful change.

Here’s how we approach everything we do:

  • Relational First   We centre connection both in how we teach, and in what we teach. Our sessions explore the emotional needs behind behaviour, helping adults respond with curiosity, not control.

  • Rooted in the Real World   We use scenarios, case reflections, and discussion, not just slides. Whether you're in a classroom, residential home, or community hub, we make sure our work fits your daily context.

  • Therapeutic & Trauma-Informed   Our work draws from attachment theory, neuroscience, and trauma-informed principles. We support staff to understand emotional dysregulation, repair relational ruptures, and create safer spaces for growth

  • Collaborative, Not Prescriptive   We listen to the needs of each setting and co-create training that fits. This may mean adapting our sessions around staff dynamics, cultural identity, or specific incidents within the setting.

  • Sustainable Support   We don’t disappear after the training day. EduAction offers ongoing consultation, reflective spaces, and implementation guidance to help your team stay confident and connected long after delivery.

Because when adults feel equipped, young people feel safe...that changes everything.

The Next Stage: A 3-Month International Impact Journey

3 R’s Project: Relational. Reflective. Rooted in Real-World Impact — Global Edition

We are now recruiting for Summer 2026 and October 2026 cohorts.

This is a three-month developmental journey, not just a trip. It is designed to grow you personally and professionally, while ensuring the communities we work alongside benefit meaningfully and sustainably.

Stage 1: Application & Interview

Your journey begins with a thoughtful application and interview process.

We want to understand:

  • Your motivations

  • The skills and experience you bring

  • Your readiness to work relationally and reflectively

  • Your commitment to ethical, community-centred impact

This stage ensures that every participant aligns with EduAction’s values and is prepared for both the challenge and privilege of this work.

Stage 2: Fundraising with Purpose

Once accepted, you will begin raising the funds to support your placement in India.

This is not simply about covering costs. It is about:

  • Learning to advocate for a cause

  • Communicating impact clearly

  • Engaging your network in meaningful global work

  • Developing leadership, resilience, and initiative

You will be supported with structured guidance, resources, and strategy sessions to help you reach your target.

Stage 3: Learning Before Leading

Before stepping into community settings, you will undertake structured preparation.

This includes:

  • Understanding cultural context and lived realities in India

  • Exploring ethical international development principles

  • Reflecting on power, privilege, and partnership

  • Developing clarity on how your skills can serve — not impose

  • Preparing emotionally and practically for cross-cultural work

We don’t believe in “parachuting in.”

We believe in being relational, reflective, and rooted in real-world impact.

Stage 4: Sharing Skills, Building Impact

During your placement, you will work alongside local communities and professionals — not to “rescue,” but to collaborate.

You will:

  • Share your professional skills in ways that strengthen existing systems

  • Support emotionally intelligent, trauma-informed practice

  • Build relationships grounded in respect and reciprocity

  • Reflect continuously on your own growth and learning

The focus is sustainable impact — for communities and for you.

Stage 5: Fortnightly Online Development Workshops

If successful at the interview, you will begin attending fortnightly online workshops as part of your preparation.

These sessions are not optional add-ons; they are central to the integrity of the project.

Through these workshops, you will:

  • Deepen your understanding of relational and trauma-informed practice

  • Explore ethical international engagement

  • Reflect on identity, culture, and power

  • Build team cohesion with your cohort

  • Prepare practically and emotionally for placement

This stage ensures that when you arrive, you are not only informed — you are grounded, self-aware, and aligned with the values of the 3 R’s project.

Consistency matters. Commitment to these sessions demonstrates readiness for meaningful global work.

Stage 6: Practical & Professional Readiness

Working towards this project also means taking responsibility for your practical preparation.

You will be required to:

  • Secure appropriate travel insurance

  • Ensure your passport is valid for the required period

  • Meet any visa requirements for India

  • Follow health guidance and recommended vaccinations

  • Complete safeguarding and risk awareness training

We support and guide you through this process, but ownership sits with you.

This stage reinforces independence, accountability, and professional responsibility.

Stage 7: Final Preparation & Deployment

As departure approaches, we move into final readiness.

This includes:

  • Confirming project placements

  • Clarifying expectations with community partners

  • Final reflective sessions as a cohort

  • Risk briefings and cultural orientation refreshers

  • Setting personal impact and learning goals

Only when relational readiness, reflective awareness, and practical preparation are all in place do we move forward.

Because this is not just about travelling.

It is about showing up prepared.

Showing up ethically.

Showing up ready to contribute in ways that are relational, reflective, and rooted in

real-world impact.

In our approach, reflective in our practice, and rooted in real-world impact, change becomes sustainable — locally and globally.

Capturing Memories: Our Volunteer Adventures in Photos

Changing Lives Through Sports and Wellbeing

EduAction is a charity dedicated to transforming lives. Through our sports programs, we have nurtured championship level players who now represent India, while also building a strong foundation of wellbeing for children, young adults, and families.

Our work extends beyond sports. We run a medical centre for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) children and young adults, as well as a community medical centre both completely free of charge for local people.

These initiatives ensure that health, inclusion, and opportunity are at the heart of everything we do for a holistic approach for volunteers and everyone we support

Volunteering - The Impact on our Community

EduAction is proud to be inspired by and aligned with the work of Youth Football Club, a pioneering community development charity in Punjab.

Their journey shows what is possible when sports and wellbeing are at the heart of change.

  • Sports Excellence: YFC has nurtured championship-level players, some of whom have gone on to represent India at national levels.

  • Community Reach: Their programs have directly benefited over 25,000 youth and children and indirectly impacted nearly 1 million people across Punjab.

  • Grassroots Presence: With centres in 9 villages, YFC provides free access to education, sports, health, and youth development initiatives.

  • Healthcare for All: They run a medical centre for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) children and young adults, alongside a community medical centre, both of which are offered free of charge to local families.

  • Breaking Cycles, founded in 2001 to counter the menace of drugs, YFC has helped thousands of families overcome poverty and addiction through sport, education, and holistic wellbeing.
